The YMCA’s 175th Anniversary Roadshow featuring never-before-seen artefacts and untold YMCA stories will be at YMCA Lakeside’s new Stoller Campus from Monday 20th January to Thursday 23rd January 2020.
Made possible by @HeritageFundUK the Roadshow, co-produced and delivered by young people, will be the first time YMCA has brought together its rich heritage and history in one place for the public to see.
Launched at the Houses of Parliament in June, the roadshow has been travelling to 11 locations across the UK.
To celebrate the 175th anniversary of the YMCA, the interactive exhibition showcases stories from the support YMCA’s offered during the World Wars to inventing basketball and volleyball.
Alongside the story of George Williams, the young draper who founded the YMCA and its growth into a worldwide movement, visitors can also hear new stories about people who have been positively impacted by the YMCA’s work.
Workshops for schools will take place daily with lively discussions and even the chance to throw a few basketball hoops.
CEO John Cronin said “We are delighted to host the 175 Heritage Roadshow. The exhibition has been extremely well received as it travels the UK and we were very keen to ensure that the north west region doesn’t lose out. As it coincides with the recent launch of the £6.8m Stolller Campus, YMCA Lakeside is the perfect Roadshow venue.â€
YMCA Lakeside is offering free entry to the four- day event but guests are advised to pre-book by calling 015395 39000 or emailing lakesideenq@fyldecoastymca.org
