YMCA Fylde Coast is part of the YMCA movement in England and Wales which comprises of 84 local associations. In turn, our YMCA is also part of a global YMCA movement operating in 119 countries acorss the globe.

Here on the Fylde Coast, we have provided trusted services to the community for over 100 years. From our roots in St Annes we now have a presence across Fylde, Wyre and the Lake District. Through our core services of Leisure, Housing and Outdoor Education we support tens of thousands of people each year. Over the last 12 months we have provided safe and secure housing to more than 100 homeless young people, welcomed in excess of 830 young people to our youth clubs and recorded 1m visits to our leisure sites. Our Outdoor Education facility on the south western shores of Windermere provides inspirational residential experiences to upwards of 6,500 school children.

Duties of a Trustee
Becoming a member of the Board of Trustees, you become both the trustee of a registered charity and director of a company limited by guarantee. With your colleagues on the Board, you will be responsible for ensuring the affairs of the charity are conducted legally and properly. Support and guidance will be given to help you learn and exercise your role. The role of a Trustee is a voluntary role.

As a Housing Navigator what does the role entail:

You would be part of a wider project called Moving Forward, this consists of Y:Mentoring and Y: Move On. Y: MoveOn works with the young people of Fleetwood/Wyre to provide tenancy support for up to 12 months to help sustain tenancies. Improve relationships with local landlords/housing associations to open doors to more accommodation for young people. Work with statutory services and other agencies to eliminate barriers to support and improve community relationships.  YMCA’s goal is to reduce youth homelessness.

 

Your day will consist of …

  • Processing referrals into service
  • To conduct Risk Assessments and Risk Management Plans with applicants.
  • To engage and empower service users to complete initial self-assessment of needs, including barriers and aspirations, which will form the basis of their individual support plans.
  • Travel to young people within their home.
  • To engage service users to attend Tenancy support sessions to develop skills in individual areas as defined within self- assessment of needs and support plan.
  • Empower service users to engage in services and within their community.
  • Empower service users to realise and achieve their full potential.
  • Maintain records to a high standard that are necessary for the funding requirements of the scheme.
  • Maintain records that are necessary for the smooth operation of the scheme.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your retail experience with meaningful work that supports local young people. Our shop plays a vital role in raising funds for YMCA programmes across Rotherham, while also providing affordable goods to the community.

As Shop Manager, you’ll take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the store, driving sales, maximising donations, and building strong connections within the local area.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Deliver excellent customer service while promoting the charity’s work
  • Drive sales and profitability through effective stock, pricing, and merchandising
  • Manage stock generation, donations, and shop floor presentation
  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteers

Working Pattern:
