The Moving Forward Project is a three-year initiative starting on April 1, 2025, dedicated to tackling youth homelessness in Fleetwood. By enhancing access to move-on accommodation, addressing the root causes of homelessness, and supporting young people in maintaining secure housing, the project aims to create lasting change in our community.
What is Moving Forward?
What Do We Do?
At the heart of the Moving Forward Project is our commitment to preventing youth homelessness and supporting young people in building brighter futures. We achieve this through two core initiatives: Mentoring, which provides 11–16-year-olds at risk of homelessness with personalised guidance, group workshops, and skills development, and Move On, which helps individuals under 30 navigate and sustain tenancies with tailored support and community collaboration. Together, these programmes address the root causes of homelessness, equip young people with essential life skills, and foster stronger relationships between landlords, housing associations, and local communities, ensuring sustainable housing solutions for those who need it most.
Y:Mentoring
Our mentoring program is designed for young people aged 11–16 who are at risk of homelessness. Through personalised 1-on-1 support, group activities, and skill-building workshops, our experienced mentors provide the tools and guidance needed to overcome challenges and build a brighter future.
Over 3–12 months, participants will collaborate with their mentors to:
- Set and achieve personal goals.
- Develop resilience and self-confidence.
- Strengthen physical and mental well-being.
- Build essential life skills to navigate obstacles.
By fostering strong relationships and encouraging positive choices, the programme empowers young people to secure a stable future and reduce their risk of homelessness.

Y:Move On
Our Move On project supports individuals under 30 who are starting or struggling to maintain a tenancy. Whether it’s a first tenancy or an existing one, we provide 3–12 months of tailored support, including:
- One-on-one guidance from support workers.
- Group sessions and workshops.
- Collaboration with housing associations, landlords, and local communities to create sustainable housing solutions for young people.
This programme helps young tenants build the skills and confidence they need to thrive while fostering stronger relationships between landlords and their communities.
