1922 – 1945: The YMCA launched in St Annes. A hut opened in Squires Gate. This hut was used to support troops during World War II.
1948 – 1956: Squires Gate hut is moved to St Alban’s Road extending the building. YMCA agrees to build a new brick building. Harry Richards was appointed General Secretary.
1960 – 1971: Cliff Richard visits the YMCA. Work begins on the new building after fundraising. The building is opened by the Duchess of Kent. Seafield Road Playing Fields are donated by William Pickles.
1971 – 2005: Harry Richards retires after 39 Years, the Foyer Scheme opens in Fleetwood. A new building opens in St Annes, YMCA Lytham was opened and the YMCA Lofthouse building in Fleetwood. Mrs Partington who ran the YMCA Charity Shop retires after 30 years.
2006 – 2012: Awarded two leisure service contracts with Wyre & Fylde Council to operate 6 centres for 20 years as part of transparent partnership. Paterson Centre accommodation opens in St Annes for young adults. Merged with YMCA Lancaster and purchased YMCA Lakeside Activity Centre on the shores of Lake Windermere.
2013 – Present: Increased our outreach programmes in the community with the Your Move programme, targeting exercise as a prevention method in young people and families. Opened the Stoller building for young people at YMCA Lakeside after a £15m fundraising campaign. Opened a new accommodation unit for young adults in St Annes & Bolton.
