YMCA Fylde Coast is part of the YMCA movement in England and Wales which comprises of 84 local associations. In turn, our YMCA is also part of a global YMCA movement operating in 119 countries acorss the globe.

Here on the Fylde Coast, we have provided trusted services to the community for over 100 years. From our roots in St Annes we now have a presence across Fylde, Wyre and the Lake District. Through our core services of Leisure, Housing and Outdoor Education we support tens of thousands of people each year. Over the last 12 months we have provided safe and secure housing to more than 100 homeless young people, welcomed in excess of 830 young people to our youth clubs and recorded 1m visits to our leisure sites. Our Outdoor Education facility on the south western shores of Windermere provides inspirational residential experiences to upwards of 6,500 school children.

Duties of a Trustee
Becoming a member of the Board of Trustees, you become both the trustee of a registered charity and director of a company limited by guarantee. With your colleagues on the Board, you will be responsible for ensuring the affairs of the charity are conducted legally and properly. Support and guidance will be given to help you learn and exercise your role. The role of a Trustee is a voluntary role.

As a Housekeeper what does the role entail:

Your day will consist of …

  • Work as part of the house team under the direction of the Services Manager
  • Carry out general cleaning duties in communal areas and meeting rooms as required, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout.
  • Carry out cleaning and preparation when required for changeover of client accommodation.
  • Follow a reporting procedure in regards to maintenance and equipment
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety requirements of the job and the Centre as indicated by the Centre Policies and Procedures. Read and accept all risk assessments of equipment

This job is for you, if…

  • You have previous cleaning experience in a domestic or workplace setting.
  • You have good communication skills both written and verbal.
  • You have great attention to detail and take pride in delivering a quality cleaning service.
  • You are a confident team worker who can work on their own initiative or work as part of a team.
  • Can be flexible and prioritise workload as needed between buildings as and when necessary.

As a Housing Support Worker what does the role entail:

Your day will consist of…

  • To complete sign-ups with service users commencing the service, including full induction and application for Housing Benefit.
  • Support service users to effectively manage their rent accounts, ensuring that housing benefit entitlement is secured.
  • Be responsible for conducting weekly accommodation checks with service users and reporting and managing repairs to the accommodation.
  • Support service users to develop understanding of their rights and responsibilities in a Tenancy and develop skills to effectively manage their accommodation.
  • Monitor and update application process to ensure that applicants and service users are informed about the service and their responsibilities for the accommodation.
  • Ensure that House Rules are maintained and in the event of serious anti-social behaviour the appropriate agencies are contacted.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records of housing applicants, residents, former residents and properties, ensuring the information is accurate, up to date and relevant.
  • Provide a holistic approach, supporting service users to better manage and improve their situation and to develop the confidence and skills to maintain independent living.

  • You have experience working within a Supported Housing Setting (desirable but not essential)
  • You have a good standard of education to G.C.S.E level or equivalent, with grade C or above – or equivalent in Mathematics and English.
  • Fully I.T literate in all Microsoft Packages

  • You have a calm personable nature and find appropriate resolutions when handling conflict or difficult issues.
  • You are a resilient and confident team worker who can work on their own initiative or work as part of a team.

As a Centre Supervisor what does the role entail:

Your day will consist of…

  • Maintain a high profile `shop floor` presence and a high level of interaction with staff and customers.
  • To assist on Reception as required and/or carry out duties of other members of staff as necessary, e.g. cover for breaks, holiday, sickness etc.

YMCA White Rose is looking to appoint an Assistant Shop Manager (Bank staff) to support the running of our Kimberworth Park Charity Shop. Our shop provides an easy way of donating clothing and other items to be resold and provides affordable goods for our community. Income generated through sales supports our charitable work and local programmes for young people enabling the YMCA to deliver our work in Rotherham.

 

As a member of our bank staff team, you will support with planned holiday cover assisting the day to day running of the Charity Shop and deliver excellent customer service. As an Assistant Manager, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the store when the manager is off, driving sales, maximising donations, and building strong connections within the local area.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Deliver excellent customer service and sales while promoting the charity’s work

  • Manage in store donations and shop floor presentation
  • Support volunteers within the shop
  • Oversee day-to-day shop operations, administration, and cash handling
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, and organisational policies

 

Working Pattern:

 As and when required holiday cover to be agreed with the shop manager based on mutual availability. Working hours are Monday – Friday 08:30 – 16:00, Saturday 08:30 – 13:30.
